Small Tweaks and Comment Spam

August 20, 2008

I made a few small tweaks that I think will improve Luna a little bit. They are all display related and took about 10 minutes.

I have comment spam!

This is great. It means that the spam bots have found me. Surely the rest of the world is close behind. It is also needs to be fixed. There are lots of techniques for blocking comment spam, but for now I will manually clean it out. I’ll do that by simply deleting the offending comments. That is good enough for now. In the future I’ll take a look at a more automated solution.

hey there -
lovely site. we're about to go live with a site for a creative writing doo-dad in belfast coming up next march, and when we put in a comments box, i'd love to use the spam protection you've got on foundmagazine. (all anti-spammers should demand that you know your seven times tables. genius.) can you send me the info about the programme? thanks much!

@Emily: I'll be sending you an email, but thought I would post here. FOUND uses a Ruby on Rails plugin called Brain Buster. If you are using Rails, check it out.
